Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on17 June 2024 asking for information about bus driver training.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm we hold the information you require. Safeguarding is included in the initial training that all new London bus drivers receive. It is also included within the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion training that is compulsory for new drivers which has recently been updated. This updated training will also be delivered to all existing drivers over the next two years to ensure all bus drivers are fully aware of their responsibilities to our customers. The Big Red Book is a guide provided to London bus drivers, advising them on the guidelines and procedures to follow. Please find the latest version of the Big Red Book attached. This is in the process of being updated to include further guidance developed internally and with our external stakeholders.
