Piccadilly line delays

Request ID: FOI-0873-1819
Date published: 02 October 2018

You asked

Could I please see the Piccadilly line performance data monthly for the last three years. In particular I would like to see the proportion of trains which run a delayed service and the average gap between train services, also shown monthly over the last three years. Could you also please tell me how many full-time drivers were employed by TfL on the Piccadilly line for each month over the last three years.

We answered

TfL Ref: FOI-0873-1819

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 2 July 2018 asking for information about the Piccadilly Line.

Your request has been processed in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm we do hold the information you requested. You asked:

Could I please see the Piccadilly line performance data monthly for the last three years. In particular I would like to see the proportion of trains which run a delayed service and the average gap between train services, also shown monthly over the last three years.

Please find attached data that shows the number of train service delays on the Piccadilly line for the last three years. Unfortunately it is not possible to accurately show what proportion these delays make up of all train journeys as a single disruption could impact multiple trains and journeys.

Also attached is data covering the average gap between trains. Please note that we can only supply this information by period. Please also note that the gaps are in decimal minutes - so 4.75 mins would equal 4 mins 45 seconds.

Could you also please tell me how many full-time drivers were employed by TfL on the Piccadilly line for each month over the last three years.

Please find this information in the table below. This is based on FTE (full-time equivalent). A FTE converts the hours worked by several part-time employees into the hours worked by full-time employees to see how many full-time staff they equate to; hence, in this case there are decimals rather than integers.
