TfL Ref: FOI-0861-2122
Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 26th July 2021 asking for information about the Congestion Charge.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.
Your questions are answered in turn below:
Question 1 - Under FOI please respond to the following:-
Kindly explain why TfL refuse to help customers ensure the correct charged is levied for the correct day of travel by confirming the date of zone entry.
This is not a request for recorded information under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act. I have therefore passed this question over to our Road User Charging team to address. A member of that team will look into the matter and will be in touch with you shortly.
Question 2 - The number of PCN’s issued where the charge fee had been paid but for the wrong date of zone entry, and;
Question 3 - How much money TfL have taken from the paying public by operating the on above basis?
TfL does not hold the requested information. When we issue such PCNs we do not record the reason - they are just issued on the basis that the daily charge was not paid. We do not know if it was because the charge was paid for the wrong date or for some other reason. Due to this, we do not hold the information to answer either question.
Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.
Yours sincerely,
David Wells FOI Case Officer FOI Case Management Team General Counsel Transport for London
