The WiseNet sensors are not used for surveillance. These devices do not identify individuals and do not collect personal data. They are heat and motion detectors, used to collate and aggregate readings on workspace utilisation.
The cost to purchase the sensors, peripheral equipment, cable installation work, new ADSLs (asymmetric digital subscriber lines) firestopping etc. for Griffith House was £83,619.45, there will be some additional costs for the sensor removal from the ground floor canteen area.

The data output from WiseNet heat and motion detectors allows strategic decisions to be made on the efficiency of the office portfolio and if the correct type of workspace is being provided to TfL staff. These devices do not identify individuals and do not collect personal data.
They are installed at TfL offices in Palestra, Pier Walk, Endeavour Square, Knollys House, Mandela Way, Ashfield House, Selbie House and Dial a Ride Croydon.
