We answered
TfL Ref: FOI-0806-2324
Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 14th June 2023 asking for information about speed cameras.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.
Specifically you asked:
“How many speeding notifications are sent on average for each camera across London in the last year (May 2022-may 2023)? (As one average figure)
How many speeding notifications were sent for the year (May 2022-May 2023) relation to the camera A40 nr Terrick Street W12 to A40 Westbourne Bridge off Slip W2?

I can confirm that we hold some of the information you require.
In resepct of questions 1 and 2, TfL does not hold the requested information. Penalties for speeding are issued by the police, and you may therefore wish to put these questions directly to them. FOI requests to the Metropolitan Police can be submitted via their website here: https://www.met.police.uk/rqo/request/ri/request-information/rip/request-information-police/
In regard to question 3, all Safety Cameras are calibrated in line with the Home Office Type Approval requirements for the specific camera. Cameras used for enforcement have valid calibration certificates which are held by the Police responsible for the enforcement of the cameras. TfL has no process to request a calibration to be carried out but if directed by police or in the event of a significant on site replacement of equipment, then the site may need to be recalibrated prior to being used for enforcement. If a member of the public believes a safety camera has a defect then this can be reported via Streetcare (https://streetcare.tfl.gov.uk/) or through TfL customer services (https://tfl.gov.uk/help-and-contact/).
In answer to question 4, TfL has received four such complaints in the last 2 years.
