Thank you for your clarified request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 16 June 2023 asking for information about signal failures on the District line.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.  I can confirm that we hold the information you require. You asked for: details of any incident including date, type eg signal failure (if held), and location. This should only include information regarding the District line, on the Richmond-Blackfriars portion of the line between 1 and 13 June 2023.

Please see attached as requested. Please expand the column widths where required to see the contents.

We are currently upgrading the sub-surface signalling network through our Four Lines Modernisation (4LM) and Piccadilly line upgrade (PLU) programmes - this will automate this part of the network and will ultimately improve reliability, train frequencies and quicken up journey times.

Please also note that the section between Turnham Green and Richmond is Network Rail infrastructure and whilst we don’t physically maintain this section of railway we do continue to work with Network Rail to improve reliability and the length of time it takes to respond to any issues that do take place.

We continue to maintain the network overnight and deliver other works (signalling, track renewal, drainage etc.) over weekends to ensure the network is more reliable, which with safety are our number key priorities.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for any reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.

Yours sincerely
