Please note that the data is based on ticketing data.

PVAL stands for Passenger Validator - these are card readers present at stations in lieu of physical gates for customers to validate their ticketing product on.

In this dataset.  Oyster taps on a PVAL are designated as either Entry or Exit, however and Contactless taps on a PVAL are designated as “PVal”. This is because Contactless journeys are not constructed at the point of tap (unlike Oyster) and so we do not know from the source data whether a Contactless tap on a PVal was an entry or an exit tap.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for any reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.

Yours sincerely
