Thank you for your request which we received on 10 June 2023, asking for information about the procurement of mobile phones, SIP and Telephony.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.  I can confirm that we hold the information you require. You specifically asked:

Mobile phones
Who is your current mobile phone provider?

Virgin Media O2.

How many mobile connections?

Circa 29,000.

When is the contract up for renewal?

The contract is currently up for renewal (as of 31 May 2023) and is going through a bidding process.

How long do you contract for (24 or 36 months)?                                                                                                                                                                                 

As of 1 June 2023 TfL entered a 3-year Tactical Contract with O2 to ensure service continuity and to allow sufficient time to transition to a new service provider if O2 are unsuccessful in procuring a new contract.

The team responsible for the management of the contracts register is Commercial Strategy and Performance.
With regard to name and contact details, in accordance with TfL’s obligations under Data Protection legislation we would not give out the direct contact details, as required by section 40(2) of the FOI Act. This is because disclosure of this personal data would be a breach of the legislation, specifically the first principle which requires all processing of personal data to be fair and lawful. It would not be fair to disclose this personal information when the individuals have no expectation it would be disclosed and TfL has not satisfied one of the conditions which would make the processing ‘fair’.
