Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 16 July 2021 asking for information about the procurement of the specific services for London Underground as below.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold the information you require. You asked:
Can you please confirm how the following services are procured for London Underground and the value of the current contract and its renewal date?

-Fire Marshall training. We deliver Fire Warden and Fire Watchperson internally. We don’t deliver Fire Marshall training.

-Portable fire equipment supply, testing, & maintenance. Our Portable Fire Fighting equipment is maintained through the 1FM Pan-TfL Target Cost contract with Equans (a subsidiary of Engie Services Ltd). This contract covers most areas of TfL and is not just for LU. With regard to LU only, the contract for Reactive and Planned Maintenance is £6.15M per annum and covers all fire assets. Due to the scale of the contract it is difficult to break down the actual portable equipment in isolation but is circa £492K per annum.

The contract is within the initial 5 year term which ends on 24th June 2022 with the option to extend for up to 3 additional years. The supply of Portable Fire Fighting equipment is procured through the same contract on an ad hoc basis.

-Emergency Lighting testing. Our Emergency Lighting Testing is completed internally by our Electrical Direct Labour Organisation (DLO) across all LU stations and Operational buildings. The depot “fleet areas” are covered by the Depot Maintenance Unit (DMU) and their in-house teams.

-First aid training. The current provider of our First Aid training courses is Good Skills, although we do also have a handful of trainers who can deliver in house and are licenced by Good Skills. The current contract is with Good Skills and commenced on 1 April 2017. We have extended the current agreement to cover us until the end of the financial year whilst we go out to tender. The total value is based off our training demand with some contingency and is £96,105 although please note this may or may not all be used.
