Please could i have a list of the approved materials for LUL environments, I am a designer working on a new product for these types of S12 stations.

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 8th June 2023 asking for information about approved materials for the London Underground.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.
Specifically you asked:
“Please could i have a list of the approved materials for LUL environments, I am a designer working on a new product for these types of S12 stations.”
I am afraid that TfL does not hold the requested information. This is because there is no “list” of approved materials for London Underground environments. Any material to be used must comply with the applicable British Standards and LU Engineering Standards, and we require that designers ensure that there has been an adequate assessment of the product for its intended purpose in each instance.
As an example, with respect to fire compliance, our requirements are defined in standard S1085 (attached) and the locations to which standard S1085 applies are defined in standard S1086 (also attached).
