Thank you for your request of 1st July 2021 asking for information about Dial A Ride and London Underground.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold some of the information you require. Your questions are answered in turn below:
Questions 1: Please let me know how many former Dial A Ride have asked for redundancy, and how many Dial A Ride have left their jobs and how much money Dial A Ride had to pay in redundancy package to all the drivers who have left and what will Dial A Ride do with surplus buses of Dial A Ride. Buses sell or keep the buses for future use.
Answer: In response to a considerable fall in demand for Dial-a-Ride journeys due to the Covid-19 pandemic, TfL offered a voluntary exit programme to its operational staff in March. In total 104 Dial-a-Ride drivers took up the offer to leave the business, and they left in June 2021. TfL paid a total of £4,937,971 in exit payments to those drivers. These costs will be recovered within a year due to salary savings. At present, it is Dial-a-Ride’s intention to keep all of the 256 vehicles in our fleet until we have a better idea of the likely future demand for the service
Questions 2: How much is cost of hire of tube train on the London Underground and which firm provides all the rolling stock for the trains for year 2020-21.
Answer: London Underground does not hire out tube trains. London Underground provides all the tube trains, except those for the Northern Line which are provided by Alstom.
Questions 3: Send me copies of accounts for London Underground, Buses and Dial A Ride when available and Crossrail accounts for 2020-21 and 2021-22.
Answer: The TfL Annual Report and Accounts for the years 2020-21 and 2021-22 (which is the current financial year, which will not end until 31st March 2022) have not yet been produced. We publish the Accounts on our website via the following link – the most recent year for which a report exists is 2019-20:
