TfL Ref: FOI-0687-2425

Thank you for your request which we received on 29 May 2024, asking for information about bus route 28.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act our information access policy.  I can confirm that we hold some of the information you require. You specifically asked:

1) Under the Metroline contract, the number of trips made by route 28 services to and from Chamberlayne Road / Station Terrace in Kensal Rise has not increased compared to when RAPT operated the route. Please provide evidence by way of data on route 28 bus services/trips to and from Chamberlayne Road/Station Terrace for May 2024, including comparative data from the previous operator.

Unfortunately, we don’t hold this information. Operational movements of buses do not form part of the contract and fall under the bus operators’ control. You would have to contact Metroline directly for this information.

We can however provide schedules and route records, which may go some way towards answering your questions. Please find the route record attached.

The route schedules are available here: https://tfl.gov.uk/corporate/publications-and-reports/bus-schedules?Query=28

Older route schedules are available here https://bus.data.tfl.gov.uk/expired-schedules/ExpiredSchedules.zip. The service change number that you need is 65780 which is the reference number for the schedules that ran last by the pervious operator.

2) The frequency of route 28 services to Chamberlayne Road / Station Terrace has not increased compared to when RAPT operated the route.

There were no changes to route frequencies with the new contract.

3) Route 28 buses are not being routed "out of service" and travelling northbound towards Willesden instead of southbound towards Ladbroke Grove. Please provide data for May 2024 on how many buses have been routed along Chamberlayne Road to Metroline's northern depots (Pound Lane, Cricklewood, etc.) after terminating at Station Terrace.

4) At the end of the shift, none of the route 28 buses are routed along Chamberlayne Road at night to Metroline's northern depots (Pound Lane, Cricklewood, etc.), where they stand overnight until morning services begin.

5) There is no agreement in the contract allowing Metroline to re-route route 28 services northbound towards Willesden / Metroline's Pound Lane depot at the end of a shift.

As above. We don’t hold this information.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright.

Yours sincerely
