We operate a service message policy where the majority of our messages relate to customer information only and if the customer registers an account and provides an email address, we will send them travel related information by email. These will be messages that are useful to know in relation to the products they have bought or services that they use, and might include:
- important changes to services they use
- new travel services
- travel disruption
- information about fares
- consultations on TfL's plans for transport in London
- changes to terms and conditions of travel
The table above contains the lists that customers have specifically opted in to. The majority of email addresses are obtained when a customer registers an account and provides an email address.
https://tfl.gov.uk/corporate/privacy-and-cookies/oyster-card#on-this-page-2 gives more information on this. Further information about how TfL uses service messages can be found in the relevant pages at www.tfl.gov.uk/privacy. Customers are able to unsubscribe from these messages at any time, by either using the hyperlink provided within each email, or, alternatively, by emailing [email protected]. Currently we have 7,692,170 active email addresses that we have contacted over the last 3 years.
