Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 13 June 2018 asking for information about promoting the Santander Cycle Scheme.
Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require.
As walking and cycling is a key part of the Mayor’s Transport Strategy, it’s essential that we promote these active modes of transport. This includes raising awareness and usage of the Santander Cycles scheme. Santander provides £1m annually which supports the activation and promotion of the scheme, and which covers most of the promotional activity.
TfL’s total spend on sponsored or advertorial articles relating to Santander Cycles since 2015 was £96,821. This is broken down as follows:
25 May - 27 September 2015 – Evening Standard (newspaper) - £27,854
27 May - 31 October 2015 – Evening Standard (website) - £14,497
21 November 2016 - 7 March 2017 – Evening Standard (newspaper and website) - £54,470
If this is not the information you are looking for please do not hesitate to contact me.
If you are not satisfied with this response please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.
