TfL Ref: 0665-1718
Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 12 June and 4 July 2017 asking for information about changes to and consultations on bus route 240 and bus stops along Hammers Lane.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold some of the information you require.
You asked:
To clarify my request, I would like documentation regarding the proposals to move or alter the 'bus stops along Hammers Lane NW7 in order to make them wheelchair accessible, and at one location stop cars overtaking the bus on the wrong side of the nearby traffic island, and other information relating to these bus stops.
The following quotation relating to the relocation of bus stops along Hammers Lane NW7 is taken from a response by the Highways Authority to Barnet Council: (https://barnet.moderngov.co.uk/documents/b27876/Hendonn%20Residents%20Forum%20-%20Issues%20List%20with%20Responses%2006th-Jul-2016%2018.30%20Hendon%20Residents%20Forum.pdf?T=9)
"WISE LN BUS STOP (NB) - At this location the bus stop is sited between two dropped kerbs that give access to adjacent driveways, so it is not possible to raise the kerb height. An alternative location nearby has therefore been identified where the kerb can be raised to a suitable height.
A consultation letter has been sent to residents about the location above.
SHAKESPEARE RD BUS STOP (NB) - We are also considering another relocation in Hammers Lane in conjunction with Bus Stop Accessibility works to address a problem where vehicles overtaking stationary buses pass the wrong side of a traffic island. However, we are still discussing this location with TfL."
I would like to know in relation to WISE LANE:
1) Where the alternative location that has been identified is (eg map/description).
2) A copy of the consultation letter sent to residents.
3) Any correspondence between the HA, Barnet Council, and TfL regarding this.
I would like to know in relation to SHAKESPEARE ROAD:
1) Where the alternative location(s) that have been identified are (eg map/description).
2) Copies of correspondence between relevant parties relating to the 'discussion' of locations with TfL.
3) The outcome of these 'discussions' and if work is planned, when this will be undertaken.
If any information regarding anything including but not limited to temporary closure, relocation or accessibility work is held by TfL regarding the 'Mill Hill/The Three Hammers' bus stops in the last 3 years, please include this in your response also.
Response:
The bus stop on Wise Lane (stop number 17469) is the only bus stop currently with works planned - a re-siting of the stop. The timescale for this was projected as 2 August 2017, but this is reliant on the London Borough of Barnet (LBB) carrying out some of the works themselves first.
Please find attached a document showing the current stop location and images, and another document showing the redesigned stop and location. The scheme to re-site this bus stop is being led by LBB, and you will need to contact them for copies of consultation letters: https://www.barnet.gov.uk.
With regard to the Shakespeare Road bus stop issue, (stop numbers 15631 and 15630 one northbound one southbound), we hold only route data records and we have no record of any recent site meetings on our asset management system.
Please note that in accordance with TfL’s obligations under the Data Protection Act 1998 (DPA) some personal data has been withheld, as required by section 40(2) of the FOI Act. This is because disclosure of this personal data would be a breach of the DPA, specifically the first principle of the DPA which requires all processing of personal data to be fair and lawful. It would not be fair to disclose this personal information when the individuals have no expectation it would be disclosed and TfL has not satisfied one of the conditions of Schedule 2 of the Data Protection Act which would make the processing ‘fair’.
If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for any reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.
Yours sincerely
Sara Thomas
