What actions are TfL taking to improve reliability if W9 bus service

Request ID: FOI-0661-2425
Date published: 24 June 2024

You asked

As you will know from your own statistics the W9 bus is one of the worst performing in London. At least 1 in 5 buses fail to turn up. W9 serves many areas with poor PTAL and connects people to schools, overground train stations and runs between Southgate Tube station and Chase Farm Hospital. 1. What measures have you put in place to improve the awful service, please include dates and explanation of these actions, and what measures you take to monitor going forward 2. Please give details of which bus company now runs the service. We are unable to receive any information from Sullivan Buses who appear to just not respond to emails 3. Is it possible to meet or speak with someone at TfL to discuss the issues residents have with this route and the proposed bus priority scheme for W9 which does not address the Hail and Ride stops where there are problems and which proposes new permanent stops, where there are not needed or requested including putting a pair of stops beside existing well used stops which are in a more suitable location for residents waiting for the bus. 4. Please provide any documents reports correspondence or meeting notes with the bus company or drivers or Enfield Council about the bus service in the past 12 months, especially those where they explain how the lack of fixed stops is an issue. Please share such data where they indicate specific locations along the route as presenting any problems. 5. Are Fixed stops being considered for any existing Hail and Ride stops on Fox Lane and Cranley Gardens or Hoppers Road? Thank you

W9 performance is being discussed with Sullivans at the periodic performance meeting. Meeting notes from recent meetings are attached for your information.  Sullivans were asked to share performance improvement plan for route W9 at the next performance review meeting.  This will be discussed with the operator at the next performance review meeting.

There are no fixed stops being planned for those locations.
