You asked

I am writing to ask whether you have issued any license for a charity collecting money for (Anti) Knife-Crime in London on the 08/07/2020 positioned outside Stratford station in Westfield. I was approached by someone who asked me to give money and although I didn’t want to donate I ended up giving £1. I don’t know whether the charity was genuine and when I came back to the station they were gone. The person had a T-shirt on with 3 circles of something which I didn’t really look at. I was in somewhat of a rush. This all happened at 13:00. Is it possible for you to find out whether you gave a license to any charity to collect outside Stratford station in Westfield on the 08/07/2020. I have already emailed the Met charity division and they have not issued a license to anyone. They informed my that I should email TFL as they may have done.

We answered

Thank you for your email.

At present we have no fundraising activities taking place on any of our TfL Network since March due to Covid19. Our scheme will remain closed until September at the earliest.

Any fundraising made on the street would be granted by the local council for that area. I would suggest to contact Borough of Newham to raise your concerns regarding this incident.

Kind regards
