Traffic analysis reports for Sussex Gardens junction upgrade

You asked

I would like to obtain all the traffic modelling reports and analysis for the proposed improvements to the junction at Sussex Gardens and Edgware Road for pedestrians and cyclists. The TfL consultation report for this scheme contains a number of statements alluding to a more ambitious scheme not being proposed because of the impact on vehicular movements. These statements say that traffic analysis and modelling show that better improvements for cycling and pedestrians would cause unacceptable congestion on the road network. I would like to obtain all the reports showing how this analysis was undertaken and the results of the analysis. In particular, I would like to receive the data showing the impact of changing the west-bound approach from Old Marylebone Road from 3 lanes to 2 lanes. The consultation report states that this "would lead to severe congestion on the surrounding network". I would like to see the data and analysis as to how this conclusion was reached, and also the date that this analysis was undertaken.

Please see the requested information in the two documents attached.  

The document titled ‘Sussex Gardens Modelling’ was used by colleagues in TfL Engineering Services and Network Performance Delivery to discuss early feasibility options. The first page shows flows detected daily flows at the junction throughout the year of 2021 indicating a steady increase in vehicle flows after various 2020 lockdowns. The second and third pages show the modelled Mean Max Queue in Passenger Carriage Units and the degree of saturation values for each lane; comparing the base model to two potential designs. The final page shows two CCTV images of Edgware Road on 14/12/2021.

The document titled ‘XXXXXX-RSM-PRD-01-DR-TE-01’ shows a drawing of the feasibility design option analysis.
