TfL Ref: FOI-0614-1920

Thank you for your email received by Transport for London (TfL) on 29 May 2019.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.  I can confirm we do hold the information you require. You asked:

Can I ask what quality control and checking is used with in TfL Corporate publications.

There are a number of stages and processes involved in quality checking corporate publications. TfL has a dedicated editorial and graphic design team, overseeing the output of these reports. This team works in conjunction with reporting teams across the organisation to ensure factual accuracy and high standards of proofreading and design.

Can you advise when ‘STREETS’ division lost its Roundel, if it hasn’t why isn’t it in the Basic Element Standard v6 or Colour Standards v4?

The Streets roundel was withdrawn from use in 2014 as part of a review of our branding strategy.

Can you clarify the correct name as there is naming convention differences being Public Carriage Office (Basic Elements v5) and Taxi & Private Hire (Colour Standards v4) what is the correct term.

The correct name for this division is “London Taxi and Private Hire”.

Can you clarify the correct name as there is naming convention differences being London Trams (Basic Elements v5 & Colour Standards v4) and Tramlink with Tramlink Roundel in Tram Stop Signs standards Issue/version 3 (http://content.tfl.gov.uk/tramlink-stop-signs-standard.pdf) – What is Correct and When did it change?

The correct name is “London Trams” and it changed when TfL took over the operation of Tramlink in 2008.

When did the Coaches Roundel change from saying COACH STATION (Colour Standards v1 -  to just COACHES?

The ‘Coaches roundel’ has contained just the word ‘COACHES’ since January 2009.

When was it decided to change the Mode name from RAIL (Colour Standards 1, also on Wayback Time Machine saved TFL websites circa 2000) to OVERGROUND?

London Rail was a non-public facing division of TfL that was responsible for our relationship with National Rail. The London Rail roundel was removed when we took over the North London line passenger services and started operating London Overground in 2007.
