I’ve attached a google earth image below to assist: It is the pedestrian crossing in the centre page, crossing from the bus lane.
Thank you for your assistance.
I understand that at some point between 2018 and 2020 the traffic lights at the pedestrian crossing at J Euston Square Gardens were altered to add a pedestrian countdown.
If this is the case please can you confirm the following:
1) The date of the change
2) The reason for the change
3) If there have been any road traffic accidents at this crossing, and if so, the relevant dates.
Thank you for your assistance
We answered
TfL Ref 0612-2021
Thank you for your clarified request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 15 July 2020 asking for information about the pedestrian crossing on the A501 Euston Road at the junction with Euston Square Gardens.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold the information you require.
We have reviewed our asset management system and can confirm the site number for this is 02-015 – Euston Road- Euston Grove Bus Station. Our records show that the Pedestrian Countdown Timers (PCATS) were installed in August 2019 and that the reason for this change was because of a collision/incident with a pedestrian crossing Euston Road. PCATs were added to improve safety and also the pedestrian invitation time was also increased as part of this work.
The latest collision data we hold is for the three years to end December 2019 - we have identified information on 1 personal injury collision which occurred on the 30th September 2018 and involved serious injury to a pedestrian. Please note that all 2019 records are currently provisional. You can review details of this collision on the London Collision Map which contains information on collisions from 2005 up to end 2018. https://tfl.gov.uk/corporate/safety-and-security/road-safety/london-collision-map. 2019 data will be added to the map once it’s finalised. Therefore in accordance with the FOI Act, TfL is not obliged to supply you with the contract you have requested as it is subject to a statutory exemption to the right of access to information, under Section 22 of the Act. In this instance the exemption has been applied as the information you have requested is intended for future publication.
This exemption is subject to a public interest test, which requires us to assess whether the public interest in applying the exemption outweighs the public interest in disclosure. In this instance, it is considered that the public interest favours the publication of this information, in context and according to the pre-determined schedule, rather than in response to your request, to ensure the information is provided accurately and in an accessible manner.
The impact of current circumstances on TfL’s resources means we are not able to answer FOI requests readily and we ask that you please do not make a request to us at present.
Answering FOI requests will require the use of limited resources and the attention of staff who could be supporting other essential activity. In any event, please note that our response time will be affected by the current situation.
If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for any reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.
