A20 Crittall's Corner Prosecutions

Request ID: FOI-0611-2425

You asked

This is a road that I know well having travelled along it on many previous occasions, particularly and shortly after the speed reduction came into place. The signs indicating a reduction in speed to 40 mph were not as well shown when I initially travelled on this section of road as they now are. Things may have been different at the beginning. The area where there was a buildup of surface water as I understand matters, was where agricultural land at the back of the Ruxley Garden Centre, slopes down to the A20 at this juncture. At this low point on the A20 location on the roadway out of London, there are positioned in the ‘gutter’ many rain water gulleys the aim of which, is clearly for any surface water to be immediately dispersed. Having travelled along this road on many occasions as previously mentioned, I have never known a buildup of surface water that has said to have now occurred. Media states that 62,000 prosecutions were issued causing considerable upset by car drivers with letters from Members of Parliament who also became involved. Under the Freedom of Information Act, I would ask for the following information to be made available within the time frame of 30 days for FOI Act states. 1 On any previous occasions, have the Rain Water Gullys (there are many of them at this location) been checked for blockages including any associated soil pipe(s) connected to them ? 2 To where is surface water from the A20, normally dispersed at this point ?
