Follow-on from 2731-1819: Further to our email conversation below, is there any data now collected about the number of instances the emergency services had to be mobilised to attend to “wheelstop” incidents (as you referred to them) on the underground network? Is this email request sufficient as a new FOI request?
We answered
TfL Ref: 0602-1920
Thank you for your email received by us on 25 May 2019 asking for information about the number of instances the emergency services had to be mobilised to attend to “wheelstop” incidents on the London Underground network following your previous request for information (reference 2731-1819).
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act and our information access policy.
As mentioned previously, we had not categorically recorded whether staff on the London Underground network are dispatched to respond to every incident as many will be dealt with by train drivers and station staff already present at the location.
I can advise that we are still in the process of integrating the database used for recording emergency service dispatch, which once complete should enable us to feasibly extract the data you are seeking. Unfortunately, we are have encountered a number of issues concerning the data feed, which is in the process of being investigated. Consequently, we are unable to provide this information at this time, despite initially anticipating that we would be able to access this data by now.
We are very sorry for the prolonged delay and expect that we should be able to provide current rather than historic information on these incidents towards the end of summer, which we endeavouring to resolve in the meantime.
Once again, we are sorry that we are not in a position to provide the requested information at this time.
Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.
Yours sincerely
