HGVs in London

Information Request Hi, I’m looking for some data and hoping you can help, or point me in right direction? I am trying to see how many HGVs from outside the UK (e.g. from Europe) enter London each year (without double counting those that enter more than once). Ideally this would be cut by size of vehicle (e.g. 12t, 20t, etc.). One way I thought you might be able to help is provide the number of European HGVs that have applied for the DVS permit. Ideally cut by number that apply each year, and if possible, a forecast on how many are likely to apply going forward. Do you have data on this?

Our ref: FOI-0599-2122/GH

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 6 June 2021 asking for information about the number of foreign HGVs entering London.

Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy.

Unfortunately, we do not hold information on the number of foreign HGVs that enter London.

Regarding the DVS permits, each permit which is issued has a nationality derived from the permit’s nationality entry recorded.  This information only reflects vehicles which have received a DVS permit and does not necessarily mean they have entered London.  The information held is only split between ‘GB’ and ‘ANY’, and therefore does not show which country the vehicle is from, or specifically relate to those from Europe.

If you would like this information, please let us know the timeframe you require the information for.

If you are not satisfied with this response please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely
