FOI request detail

iBus Announcements

Request ID: FOI-0566-1718
Date published: 27 June 2017

You asked

Good Morning, I am in the process of creating a real-life accurate representation of TfL's London Bus route 208, for the Bus Simulator, OMSI2. I would like to know, if it is possible, for me to obtain digital copies of the relevant iBus announcements, used on this route. These would then be released, as part of the project, along with all the simulator relevant files. I know this is possible in some way, as others before me have done so. I would also like to know, what information is available for my own personal use, about the route. This would include allocations, duties, running times etc. I understand some of this would not be available, but I would like to know exactly what I can 'get my hands on', in order to make my life creating the route easier.

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 3 June 2017 asking for a digital copy of the iBus announcements used on bus route 208 and also some other information about the route itself.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold the information you require. You asked:

I can advise that audio recordings are only available on CD and must be sent via post. Therefore, a CD of the audio recordings will be sent upon receipt of a postal address, which I strongly advise providing through a personal email address.

It should be noted that the iBus announcements are recorded as fragments. As a result, some announcements would not feature in full as the full announcement would just be made up of two or more fragments that have already been recorded. We are therefore unable to provide you with the recordings used specifically on route 208. I have also included a list of the announcements for your reference.

Please also note that while access to this material will be provided to you under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, you are not granted any rights to any of the intellectual property that exists in it or granted any permission to make secondary uses of it.

TfL owns all intellectual property (including, without limitation, copyright) in the material supplied and will defend such rights.

As you wish to make use of the recordings for commercial purposes, you will require permission and a licence to reproduce the recordings and the bus livery.

The route information you asked for is available on our  website using the following link: Please also see the link to the online schedule: https://tfl.gov.uk/corporate/publications-and-reports/bus-schedules?Query=208) which shows the running times, start and finish times and stops.

In accordance with section 21 of the FOI Act, we are not obliged to supply you with a copy of the requested information as it is already accessible to you elsewhere.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for any reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please see the enclosed information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.
