Our ref: FOI-0554-2122/GH

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 17 June 2021 asking for information about Congestion Charging.

Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold some of the information you require.

I would like to request the number of vehicles given a congestion charge penalty between 19:00-22:00 on Friday 5th March 2021 from the cameras on the junction of Kennington road and Kennington Lane. I would also like this data for a week before on Friday 26th February as a comparison.

There are 5 different enforcement cameras at this location. On Friday 26 February 2021 a total of 14 Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) were issued from these cameras. On Friday 5 March 2021 there was a total of 251 PCNs issued.

I would also like to request the CCTV footage at the junction of Kennington road and Kennington lane between 20:50-21:10 on Friday 5th March 2021.

We do not hold CCTV footage from this junction. The cameras used to enforce our Road User Charging schemes (the Congestion Charge, Low Emission Zone and Ultra Low Emission Zone) are ANPR cameras which capture number plate data in the form of text rather than images. A still photographic image is also captured and used for evidential purposes if a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) is issued.
