Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 7 June 2022 asking for information about New Routemasters for London. Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.You asked: Earlier this year it was rumoured that the New Routemaster for London bus vehicles could be scrapped completely in due course as TFL haven't got the funds to refurbish them. Is there any substance in this? If yes, what will the routes currently operating with the vehicles be replaced with & how soon?
We do not hold the information you have requested. There are currently no plans to withdraw the New Routemaster fleet from service. The continued requirement for and operation of services by New Routemaster is, however, dependent on the outcome of funding discussions with Central Government. The current funding agreement expires on 24 June 2022.
