The following information was obtained from our licensing database on 14 June 2018.

Please note that these figures do not provide an accurate representation of drivers who have decided to no longer be licensed as a taxi driver. Licenses are recorded as surrendered for a number of reasons. This includes when a driver changes their personal details such as name or address upon expiry of a licence (even if it is renewed at a later date) or if a licence needs to be replaced (if it is lost or stolen for example).

Below is a table showing the number of licenced taxi drivers by year. The number has stayed broadly the same over the last eight years.
