TfL Ref: FOI-0523-1718

Thank you for your email received on 28 May requesting information about speed cameras on the A2.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our Information Access Policy. You asked:

Could you please tell me how many speeding notices have been issued since the average speed cameras have become live from Bexley to the Blackwall Tunnel. I say this because the deterrent factor seems to have diminished. I travel this road on a regular basis....at an indicated 50mph....and am surprised how many vehicles pass me , at a guess 60+ mph. I understand they are Average, but even so. Can't see how this is "Safe" with a possible 10mph speed difference. Perhaps a "Dot Board" like at the entrance to the Blackwall Tunnel informing us of the current number of convictions will re-focus the minds of the speeders. Or are the offenders on false number plates!!

We do not hold this information as speeding tickets are issued by the Police. Details of submitting a Freedom of Information request to the Metropolitan Police Service can be found at www.met.police.uk/foi

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely,
