Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold the information you require. You asked for:
What were the number of charge disputes raised due to alleged misread in the years 2019-2022 and the first 4 months of 2023.
We can advise that from 1 January 2019 to 30 April 2023, we have received 3629 charge disputes for alleged Vehicle Registration Mark misreads. To put this figure in context, we currently process approximately 58,000 valid charges per day for a weekday and around 29,000 on average for a weekend day.
