Our ref: FOI-0504-2223/GH

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 1 June 2022 asking for Tube Car Line Diagram stickers.

Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy.  However, to search for the information you have requested would exceed the ‘appropriate limit’ of £450 set by the Freedom of Information (Appropriate Limit and Fees) Regulations 2004.

Under section 12 of the FOI Act, we are not obliged to comply with requests if we estimate that the cost of determining whether we hold the information, locating and retrieving it and extracting it from other information would exceed the appropriate limit. In this instance, we estimate that the time required to answer your request would exceed 18 hours which, at £25 per hour (the rate stipulated by the Regulations), exceeds the ‘appropriate limit’.

In order for us to answer your request we would need to search for sticker artworks across multiple lines & transport modes for the 6 year period requested.

The process would likely mean we would need to take a few days searching multiple storage folders and across multiple suppliers and these would need cross referencing against closures over the last 6 years.

Whilst the search for all of these would take up our resources, it may result in us only being able to confirm that we no longer hold copies of these stickers. There is no operational need for us to hold historic amendment stickers for Tube Car Line diagrams, and searching for the ones which still may be held would take up an unreasonable amount of our time and resources.

To help bring the cost of responding to your requests within the £450 limit, you may wish to consider refining your requests to concentrate on matters which are important to you. We may be able to answer your request if it was more focussed, for example, with a shorter time frame or a specific London Underground line.

If you are not satisfied with this response please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely
