TfL Ref: FOI-0504-1718
Thank you for your email received on 25 May requesting information about the revocation of private hire operator licences.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our Information Access Policy. I can confirm that we hold the information you require. You asked:
Have TfL ever revoked a PH operators license before and if so why was it revoked? And how many operators been revoked?
All private hire operators in London must meet a strict range of pre-licencing requirements before they are granted a licence. They are then subject to ongoing compliance inspections to ensure that they continue to adhere to private hire regulations.
Our records show that from the beginning of 2017 we have revoked 42 operator licences. Reasons for the revocations include:
- Where a company has ceased trading
- Failing a compliance inspection(s)
- Failure to meet the fit and proper person criteria.
Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.
If this is not the information you are looking for, please do not hesitate to contact me.
