You asked
Hi, would it be possible to know if there is any asbestos containing materials on Jubilee line extension and rolling stock?
We answered
Our ref: FOI-0498-1920/GH
Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 20 May 2019 asking for information about asbestos on the Jubilee line.
Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Environmental Information Regulations and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require.
Following the ban of crocidolite (blue) and amosite (brown) asbestos in 1985, a total ban on the use of all asbestos in construction came into force in the UK in 1999. Although the Jubilee Line Extension was constructed just before this, the use of asbestos in construction materials leading up to 1999 was very limited. The controls on the materials used on the Jubilee Line Extension project would mean that asbestos would not have been used, so these stations can be deemed asbestos free.
The current Jubilee Line passenger rolling stock does not contain asbestos.
