Our ref: FOI-0496-2122/GH Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 7 June 2021 asking for measurements of the gap between tube and platform edge at Barkingside Underground Station.
Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require.
As part of the investigation into the claim you refer to, in 2021 a part of the platform was surveyed in order to measure the horizontal gap. As it wasn’t clear at precisely what train door the alleged incident occurred, dimensions were taken between train doors and platform edge at 3 train cars, all in the vicinity of the station exit. Each of the 12 door positions (4 per car) had a different measured dimension, ranging from 165mm to 182mm. The average across the 12 doors is 174mm.
