Buses' Euro Levels and Real Driving Emissions (RDE)

Request ID: FOI-0459-2021
Date published: 02 July 2020

You asked

I am doing my research project which is based on MAGIC research study! MAGIC is a study which was carried out in coordination (at some point) with TfL, where they have changed the signal timing at the Garden Row/London Road junction in London! There is a bus lane and I am trying to analyse the real-time emissions from the buses crossing the intersection! Until March I was able to type on DLVA dataset (provided by TfL) the licence plate numbers of buses and I used to get as a result the Euro Level, Real Driving Emissions (RDE) and if they are Hybrids or not (I am not completely sure for the Hybrids)! But now I have proceeded with this procedure and I recognise that Euro Levels and RDE's on DLVA were not available! Could you please provide me with this information? Days that the study was carried out: 16/09/2019 to 28/09/2019

We answered

Our Ref:         FOI-0459-2021

Thank you for your request received on 23 June 2020 asking for information about bus Euro Levels and Real Driving Emissions (RDE).

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Environmental Information Regulations and our information access policy. I can confirm we hold some of the information you require.

Our fleet data is available online at https://tfl.gov.uk/corporate/publications-and-reports/bus-fleet-data-and-audits.

This is the most up to date information currently available, we are unable to provide an estimate of when this data will be refreshed for 2020.

We do not hold information on bus movements at this junction as well as the bus types. Many buses have been retrofitted or replaced to bring them up to the cleaner Euro VI standard and we do not have a list of those.

Unfortunately we do not have any further information on when the DVLA site will be reinstated as this is not our site. You may wish to contact them, if you have not already done so, to enquire when they hope to reinstate this information.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for some reason, please feel free to contact me.

Please note, the Government has announced a series of measures to tackle the coronavirus. It is essential for London, that we continue to provide a safe transport network for essential journeys.

In current circumstances, we are not able to answer FOI requests readily and we ask that you please do not make a request to us at present.

Answering FOI requests will require the use of limited resources and the attention of staff who could be supporting other essential activity. In any event, please note that our response time will be affected by the current situation.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal.

Yours sincerely
