Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 12^th May 2019 asking for information about London taxis.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold the information you require.

You asked, with reference to your previous request on the same subject (reference FOI-1449-1819):

“As before please forward into relating to LEVC Taxis operated in the City. Plate, real number, registration number, VIN.”

The requested information can be found in the attached spreadsheet, which is accurate as of 7^th May 2019.

However, note that we are not obliged to supply Vehicle Identification Numbers (VIN) as they are subject to a statutory exemption to the right of access to information under section 40(2) of the FOI Act. This exemption to your right of access is applied in accordance with TfL’s obligations under the Data Protection Act 1998 (DPA). The exemption applies because disclosure of VIN numbers would enable you to link the information to living individuals. This would be a breach of the DPA, specifically the first principle of the DPA which requires all processing of personal data to be fair and lawful.
