You asked:

Taxi-dedicated rapid charge points (RCPs) are enforced on-street by Police Community Support Officers from the Metropolitan Police Service’s Roads and Transport Policing Command, which is jointly funded by Transport for London (TfL).In addition, TfL’s Operational Officers, as part of their regular deployments, enforce Red Route parking contraventions on the TLRN, and we have increased visits by Officers to charging bays.

We regularly issue communications to licensees reminding them that the taxi-dedicated RCPs are only for use by Zero Emission Capable (ZEC) taxis only and anyone found using the bay illegally could be subject to a penalty charge notice.

A total of 14 PCNs were issued to vehicles in taxi-dedicated RCP bays between Wednesday 3rd March 2021 and Sunday 30th May 2021.

We did not issue any warning letters to private hire vehicle drivers for misuse of taxi-dedicated RCP bays during this period.

We are in discussion with RCP operators to determine what more can be done to ensure taxi-dedicated RCPs can only be used by ZEC taxis.
