We answered

TfL Ref: FOI-0421-2425

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 4th May 2024 asking for information about speed cameras on the Transport for London Road Network.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.

Specifically you asked:

Can you please provide what is the speed tolerance setting on fixed Speed Cameras, e.g. 10% + 2mph?”.

I can confirm that we hold the information you require.

Speed offences in London that are captured on safety cameras are enforced in line with NPCC (National Police Chiefs’ Council) guidance. This states that enforcement should commence at 10% + 2 above the posted speed limit – i.e. in a 30mph zone, enforcement would commence at 35mph.

If this is not the information you are looking for please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.

Yours sincerely,

David Wells
