Has the phasing on the right turn from Westow Street into Westow Hill been changed? It's currently staying green for 4 seconds it used to be a lot longer and doesn't leave enough time for the traffic to clear the lights.

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 5 May 2023 asking for information about traffic signal timings from Westow Street onto Westow Hill. Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold the information you require. You asked: Has the phasing on the right turn from Westow Street into Westow Hill been changed? It's currently staying green for 4 seconds it used to be a lot longer and doesn't leave enough time for the traffic to clear the lights.
This junction (Gipsy Hill, Westow Hill, Central Hill and Westow Street) operates a dynamic real-time traffic management system, that uses detectors in the carriageway to ascertain the demand for each approach. This information is used in real-time to automatically adjust the signal timings. An engineer has examined the signals and no changes have been made to the timings. While observing the right turn in question the amount of green time varied between 7 and 20 seconds. This junction also operates a system which gives late running buses priority at the signal and this can result in some arms of the junction are given a minimum of green time to allow late running buses to proceed through the signals. It is possible that this is the reason for a shorter green duration.
