TfL Ref: 0370-1920
Thank you for your email received by us on 5 May 2019 asking for information about carbon offsetting and Transport for London (TfL).
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Environmental Information Regulations (EIR)] and our information access policy. I can confirm we do hold the information you require.
TfL’s Energy Strategy outlines our approach to managing energy use and carbon, which is published via the following link to our website: http://content.tfl.gov.uk/sshrp-20180620-part-1-item-07-tfl-energy-strategy.pdf .
The Strategy demonstrates how we are working to help deliver the Mayor’s goal of a zero carbon London by 2050 by reducing energy use, improving low carbon energy generation and being more energy efficient. Whilst we are planning on not needing to use carbon offsetting, we believe that our other plans outlined here, such as our zero carbon goal, will be better for sustainability.
Our London-wide approach to carbon emissions reduction is detailed in the London Environment Strategy, which may also be of interest at: https://www.london.gov.uk/sites/default/files/london_environment_strategy_0.pdf
