Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 17 May 2022 asking for information about the future of bus services in London.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold the information you require. You asked for:
potential future bus cuts and changes in London.
Please answer the following:
Is it still the intention to cut 4% of bus kilometres by 2024/5?
If yes, which areas of London do you expect most cuts to be concentrated e.g. north, east, south, west?
I can confirm that we do not yet have any specific intention on this but we can advise that we are planning to launch a consultation on 31 May 2022 on major changes to bus routes in central London via: https://haveyoursay.tfl.gov.uk/
In the meantime, we continue to work to our Financial Sustainability Plan (FSP), which sets out how we can deliver the savings required by the Government for the funding support for London’s transport network, including a four per cent reduction in bus kilometres by 2024/25. This reduction is being concentrated in central and inner London, so we can protect the network in outer London. Any structural alterations to bus routes will be subject to full stakeholder and public consultation and an Equality Impact Assessment
