You asked

Hi, I recently applied for the position for Bus Station Controller (BCS) and am progressing to the interview stages. I wanted to find out what the Salary Progression of a BCS is. I know from the advertisement that starting wage is £37k and £38k After a year but would like to know about after that. Also wanted to find out if overtime is easily available as a BCS. Looking forward to your reply. Kind regards,

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 4th May 2023 asking for information about the Bus Station Controller role.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.

Specifically you asked:

I can confirm that we hold the information you require.

The rates of pay (effective from 1 April 2022) are:

Bus Station Controller 1 Year Plus = £40,341
Bus Station Controller less than 1 Year = £38,711

Outside of the increase in pay after 1 year, pay is reviewed annually through the collective bargaining process with the recognised trade unions. Currently there is a pay deal in place that expires on 31 March 2024 with the rates from 1 April 2023 to be confirmed in coming months. There are no other rates of pay for the bus station controller role outside of the rates stated above. For instance, should you be a bus station controller with 3 year experience, this will not deviate from the above. Overtime availability is based on business and operational needs.

If this is not the information you are looking for please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.
