Hi,
I am writing to you under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 to request the following Information.
My request is regarding the number of travelcards sold in the last five years by Transport for London. Could you provide me with the following:
1) Could you provide me with the total number of travelcards you have sold over the last five years, by year (eg. 2018/19, 2019/20, 20/21, 21/22, 22/23). I would be keen to get a breakdown of sales of the following:
• Day Travelcards
• Group Day Travelcards
• Weekend Travelcards
• the London Family Travelcard
• and discounted Day Travelcards bought using National Railcards
2) Could you also provide me with the total amount of money TfL received each year for each product?
Could you present these in excel spreadsheet form? For ease, here is how I would like the information presented:
3) If TfL made estimates for 23/24 on the amount of travelcards of all products listed above, and how much it expected to receive from this, could you also provide me with these figures?
If it is not possible to provide the information requested due to the information exceeding the cost of compliance limits identified in Section 12, please provide advice and assistance, under the Section 16 obligations of the Act, as to how I can refine my request.
If you can identify any ways that my request could be refined, I would be grateful for any further advice and assistance.

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 3rd May 2023 asking for information about Travelcard sales.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.
I can confirm that we hold some of the information you require, which is provided in the attached spreadsheet for your questions 1 and 2. Please note that:
TfL does not sell weekend or family tickets
these figures only include the TfL sales of these tickets and the TfL share of the money received from these sales
the money from TfL sales of Travelcards is shared with the Train Operating Companies (TOCs), and TfL also receives a share of the money from TOC sales of Travelcards.
In regard to your third question - on estimates for 2023/24 for all the products listed - TfL does not hold this information.
