We answered
Our Ref: FOI-0333-2021
Thank you for your revised request received on 4 June 2020 asking for information about filming at Aldwych Station.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm we do hold the information you require.
Please find below the requested information for the period October 2019-March 2020 (we have not undertaken any filming since March 2020).
You asked:
1. Which film companies used this location?
Sutton Hoo Ltd filmed with us and one other production company completed a photoshoot (we are unable to disclose any further detail on this job as it is covered by an NDA until the photoshoot is released).
2. How often was the Tube train that is stationed at this location put into use for a film shoot?
None.
3. How many times was a Tube train driver needed by a film production to drive the Tube train?
None.
4. How much revenue did this location make for London Underground?
£49,820 (c.£50,000).
5. How many health and safety incidents were reported by film cast and crew?
None.
6. Which areas of the Aldwych Station are allocated for film shoots?
Ticket Hall (ground floor level), the platform areas (downstairs), and outside the station.
7. Are all film production crew and cast required to go through safety training by London Underground for this location?
Safety briefings must be attended by everyone intending to enter the station. Risk assessments are also completed in advance.
8. Is there a maximum limit of film crew and cast that can be on site at this location?
This is dependent on several variables. Only a certain number of people are permitted to enter the station with one member of fully-trained TfL staff (the exact number is dependent on the nature of the work to be undertaken and the relevant Health & Safety requirements). It should be noted that cast and crew are usually rotated in and out of the station as they are required rather than all being in the station at any one time.
9. How many film productions were not approved for filming at this location?
None.
10. Regarding Film Production Companies who only want to film outside Aldwych Station. Do these film production crews have to get permission from the Transport For London to film outside Aldwych Station?
Yes they do.
