Working Timetable for 710 training

Request ID: FOI-0319-2021
Date published: 24 June 2020

You asked

The 710 training trains have been running pretty much the same pattern every day, by now they should have settled down there is no reason why you shouldn't provide a weekly schedule for a broadly representative week with the proviso that they often change at last minute, and it is unacceptable to characterise my FOI as "speculative". Please re-consider providing a timetabling bulletin for a recent week of training trains that is broadly representative of how they have been running, we only need something broadly consistent to understand turn-back times, etc.

TfL Ref: FOI-0319-2021

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 1st June 2020 asking for information about 710 training timetables.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy.

Note that due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic the Class 710 training programme has been paused until a safe method of in-cab training can be agreed with unions. The pause to all in-cab training is a wider industry issue that is affecting all operators. Further to this, all driver diagrams are being re-worked to ensure social distancing can be maintained at turn-around and in-service crew relief points.

It is not the case, therefore, that patterns have “settled down”. As London Overground moves forward its Class 710 driver training it will need to be entirely re-programmed to accommodate social distancing requirements and different ways of working. As such ,there is at this moment in time no “representative week”. However, that said, we can provide you with the following example from the week commencing 3rd February 2020 when driver training was at a fairly steady beat rate:
