Dear Transport for London, Please could you advise me: 1 - the number of people provided with a rebate for journeys made within the congestion charge zone for electric car owners who registered for auto pay and subsequently obtained an electric vehicle discount in the year from 1st April 2021 to 31st March 2022. 2 - the value of the rebates provided for journeys made within the congestion charge zone for electric car owners who registered for auto pay and subsequently obtained an electric vehicle discount in the year from 1st April 2021 to 31st March 2022

Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 10 May 2022 asking for information about the number of refunds provided to drivers who applied for Electric Vehicle Discount.

Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and our information access policy. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require.

We do not offer rebates of this nature. For all discounts/exemptions where registration is required, we advise customers that they must pay the charge(s) until they are fully registered and their application has been confirmed.

Residents who pay the full charge while they are provisionally registered will receive a refund equivalent to 90% of the daily congestion charge.

We may provide a refund of charges if, for example, due to a processing error there has been an extended delay in the setting up of a discount.  But that would be treated as a normal enquiry/complaint.
