Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 12 May 2021 asking for information about tube station window cleaning. Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm that we hold the information you require. You asked: Who are currently cleaning the glass windows at TfL underground stations. Does it involve abseil cleaning for large stations and when are the contracts put out for tender?
Our contractors ABM carry out all glass clearing in our tube stations. For areas that are difficult to access ABM uses its own internal team to carry this out and there is some abseiling required. All these activities are incorporated within the current cleaning contract. The contract is due to expire in September 2022 but there is an option to extend this up to three years.
