FOI request detail

How much was David Hockney paid for his art

Request ID: FOI-0295-2122
Date published: 27 May 2021

You asked

David Hockney was commissioned to do some art, notably one that redesigned the Picadilly Circus roundal with a dropped S as if it has run out of space. I would like to know firstly if he was paid for this, and how much he was paid, and what the decisions that led up to paying him for this and whether other artists were considered for it or researched. Furthermore, any other artistic grants would be good to know.

We answered
