Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm we hold some of the information you require. You asked:

Under the Freedom of Information Act, please can you provide the business case/s for new Santander cycle hire docking stations in Bermondsey and Rotherhithe.

No formal Business Case was approved.

What are the estimated number of new docking stations required to cover Bermondsey and Rotherhithe and what are the estimated capital costs per docking station?

The estimated capital costs were £5m for the delivery of c40-48 stations, so each docking station would require c£105,000 - £125,000 of capital funding to deliver. These are indicative amounts as further investigative work would be required.

Has a formal proposal or request for an expansion of the Santander cycle hire scheme in Southwark been put to TfL by Southwark Council?

Yes, on 10 March 2015 a letter was received by the Mayor from Councillor Peter John which detailed Southwark’s Cycle Hire expansion aspirations to Walworth, Bermondsey, Rotherhithe, Camberwell and Peckham.

Has Southwark Council formally proposed to pay for the capital costs of new docking stations in Southwark?

No final agreement was made between Southwark Council and TfL.
