Thank you for your request received by Transport for London (TfL) on 27th May 2020 asking for information about Sudbury Town Underground station.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Environmental Information Regulations and our information access policy.

You asked:

I am making a request under the Environmental Information Regulations 2004 for all bylaws, orders and regulations governing that station and it's adjacent land.

TfL publishes railway Byelaws on our website here:

http://content.tfl.gov.uk/railway-byelaws.pdf

These Byelaws apply to trains, track and stations that are part of Transport for London’s railway, including the London Underground, London Overground and Docklands Light Railway networks. The Byelaws need to be observed by everyone to ensure ease of travel and safety on the railway system.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable to access it for any reason, please do not hesitate to contact me. If you do require further information, it would be helpful if you could be more explicit as to the exact information you require. In doing so, you may wish to take note of the guidance provided by the Information Commissioner on how best to access information from public bodies, found on its website here:

https://ico.org.uk/your-data-matters/official-information/

Note that the advice includes the following:

Do….”Be as specific as possible about the information you want rather than asking general questions….. It may also assist the authority in identifying the information if you explain the purpose behind your request”;

Do not….”Send ‘catch-all’ requests for information (such as ‘please provide me with everything you hold about ‘x’) when you aren’t sure what specific documents to ask for.”

And;

Do not…”Deliberately ‘fish’ for information by submitting a very broad or random requests in the hope it will catch something noteworthy or otherwise useful. Requests should be directed towards obtaining information on a particular issue, rather than relying on pot luck to see if anything of interest is revealed.”

On a more general matter, please note that the Government has announced a series of measures to tackle the coronavirus. It is essential for London that we continue to provide a safe transport network for essential journeys.

In current circumstances, we are not able to answer information requests readily and we ask that you please do not make a request to us at present.

Answering such requests will require the use of limited resources and the attention of staff who could be supporting other essential activity. In any event, please note that our response time will be affected by the current situation.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.

Yours sincerely,

David Wells
