Dear Madam/Sir, could you please share information with us about total count of pedestrian crossings (croswalks, a.k.a. "zebras" or similar areas reserved for pedestrians to go from one side to another) in London? We consulted this with Met Police department but they were not able to find this information.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can confirm we hold some of the information you require. You asked for:

We have 4,952 sites with pedestrian facilities (i.e. traffic signals). The various London boroughs are responsible for zebra crossings so we do not hold numbers of how many there are in London. The Department for Transport might be able to assist further, they can be contacted via their website:
